Saint Patrick’s Day Family Activities

Everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. However, you don’t have to travel to Ireland to have some St. Patrick’s Day fun. Lake County is full of activities that your whole family can enjoy. We have rounded up a list with some of the top activities in the area.

St. Patty’s Day Farmers Market
Time & Date: 10 am on March 10th
Address: 2900 N Main St, Buffalo Grove
Corned beef, brisket, cabbage, apples, onions and more available at the St. Patty’s Day Farmers Market!

St. Patrick’s Day Fun (Ages 3-11)
Time & Date: Noon – 2 pm on March 16th
Address: 888 Dunbar Rd, Mundelein, IL
Cost: $10 resident/$15 nonresident

St. Paddy’s 5K/10K run/walk: 
Time & Date: 7:15 am – 10 am on March 16th
Address: 20530 N. Rand Road, Deer Park.
Cost: $50-$60
There is a kid’s dash, awards and Irish music; plus the first 1,000 registered people receive a pint glass and hoodie. For more information, please click here.

Long Grove Village Tavern St. Patrick’s Day
Time & Date: 11:30 am – midnight on March 16th & 17th
Address: 135 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove
Cost: Free admission.

Barrington Celtic Fest
Date & Time: 11 am – 2 am on March 15th & 16th and 9 am – 1 am on March 17th
Address: McGonigal’s Pub – 105 S. Cook St., Barrington.
Cost: Free admission. 
The 10th annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration at McGonigal’s Pub includes live music, Irish goods sold by The Irish Botique/Paddy’s on the Square, Irish dancers, bagpipers and plenty of food and beverages. For more information, please click here.

Green Eggs & Irish at Buffalo Creek Brewing
Date: Saturday, March 16th
Address: Buffalo Creek Brewing – 360 Historical Lane, Long Grove
Buffalo Creek Brewing pays tribute to the Emerald Isle on Saturday, March 16th with Green Eggs and Irish – a St. Patty’s Day Celebration! All eyes will be smiling – Irish or otherwise – when brewery doors open at 9 am with complimentary green eggs and hash and $1 off on pints of Burning Red throughout the day. For more information, please click here.

St. Paddy’s Day at Mickey Finn’s
Date: March 9th – 17th

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Chicago
Date: Saturday, March 16th
Address: Columbus Drive (between Balbo Drive & Monroe Drive)
The procession travels north on Columbus Drive, beginning at Balbo Drive and ending at Monroe Drive. Wear your best green outfit and grab a good spot before the parade starts at noon. Plan on seeing plenty of colorful floats waving their green/white/orange flags high, troops of Irish step dancers, marching bands, bagpipers and more during the three-hour celebration.
